(Drawing of Honmaru Palace in Kan'ei Period)This drawing depicts the Omote Front Palace and Nakaoku Central Palace of Honmaru Palace during the Manji period (1658-1661). Public ceremonies and annual events were held in the Omote area, and it was where government officials carried out their work. Nakaoku was where the Shōgun lived and attended to government affairs. The Omote contained (from inner to outer) the Kuro Shoin and Shiro Shoin drawing rooms, and Ō-hiroma for holding ceremonies; these three rooms were set to be more formal as it was closer to the entrance.」
